FAST® is an internationally acclaimed parent engagement program that helps children thrive by building strong relationships at home.
Mayfield Primary are hoping to run a FAST programme next month. FAST stands for Families and Schools Together and is a Save the Children project aimed at giving all our children the best support in early years to help them do well both physically and mentally.
The scheme comprises eight afternoon sessions for those families who wish to take part and requires several ‘Partners’ from School, Parents and Community to be trained up to facilitate the family activities at the sessions.
We had all the helpers we needed but, unfortunately, many of those who wanted to help have now found that they are unable to commit to the amount of time required. We therefore urgently need more people to come on board and be trained if we want this programme to run, as scheduled, from 21st October until 9th December 2015.
Anyone interested should note that there are two full days training – 1st and 2nd October 2015 – then eight weekly sessions 2.15pm – 5.15pm. You would be required to be free to support on all these occasions.
If you are interested, or know of anyone who might be, can you please contact the school office as soon as possible. If we do not get at least a few more volunteers, we will not be able to deliver this extremely worthwhile project which could benefit so many families in our community.
