As part of the P6 project, Crime Scene Investigation: The Mayberry Mystery, learners used green screen to share what they have learned about the history of the Mine and the legend they discovered.

Congratulations to Jodie (P6) who recently competed in her first gymnastics grades competition at The Bells Sports Centre in Perth.

Jodie passed Grade 6 with Distinction! Coming 3rd overall in the Range and Conditioning section of the competition and 9th on Vault!

“I was excited and felt very nervous at the same time! I trained for ages for this competition and I was amazed at my result and feel very proud. I am looking forward to my next competition in October so I will keep training hard!” Jodie said excitedly.

Jodie trains 11 hour per week at Midlothian Gymnastics Club.

Well done Jodie, we are all very proud of you!

P6 Reporters

P6 having been a part of the Mayberry Crime Scene Investigation Project.

They have been finding out about different ways to report.

Using role play, they became presenters, interviewers, eye witnesses and victims to report on a burglary.

Jess dances to victory!

Hi I’m Jess from P7. I love Irish Dancing. I’ve been dancing for just over a year with the Aine Hay Academy of Irish Dance in Innerwick.

Last week I took part in dance camp at the academy. I did workshops with Fusion Fighters who are an Irish Dance Performance Crew. It was really enjoyable. I learned two new dances before performing in three shows. We raised money in memory of a young boy from Dunbar who tragically died alongside his two friends in a car accident in 2013.

On Saturday I took part in a Feis, this is a dance competition against other people in my dance class. I did 6 dances and won two silver medals and three bronze! I was so happy!

Primary 6 have taken on their next challenge!

As part of our mi:Space project we will be carrying out a Robotics project.

We had a look at what lies ahead…..

Today we took the next step….building our base drive! Our first robot…..how exciting!

We used ‘THINK-DO-TEST’ to help us work through the challenge:

-We had to think about our Task.
-then we got hands-on to build our robots….following the instructions carefully.
-then we tested our robots to see if we had met our challenge.

We used co-operative learning strategies we use in other lessons to ensure everyone had the chance to take part.

After having some time to build our robots we were able to talk about the challenge, identify things that went well, think about things we might do differently and discuss our next steps.

We are looking forward to our next robotics challenge!
